The Irish have an enviable Eurovision pedigree with their 7 wins which included three in a row in the 90's. Although recently they have not had a popular entry. Their last win was in 1996.
Germany have now won the competition twice.
France have performed terribly in recent years, their last win was in 1991 performed by Amina.
Israel despite not technically being in Europe have performed well with 3 wins in the 70s and 80s.
Luxembourg have not competed since 1993 and all of their wins came in the early decades of the song contest.
The UK are another fading giant in Eurovision. In the 1970's you could rely on the UK being to the top of the leader board. In the last 7 contests their highest finishing position has been 11th. The last win for the UK came from Katrina and The Waves in 1997. I Can by boy band Blue couldnt reverse the trend last year.
The Netherlands most recent win was in 1975 with the group Ding a Dong. This was the 4th triumph for the Dutch.
Sweden with 5 wins has the most famous Eurovision winners in Abba who won with Waterloo in 1974 and launched the foursome on to the world stage. A creditable third last year.
Switzerland despite contesting every contest have only won twice. they held and won the 1st ever ESC.
