Israel although not strictly in Europe is a member of the European Broadcasting Union so allowed to compete in Eurovision.

The country has had good success with three wins in 1978 1979 and 1998.

The last win was controversial with transexual Dana International winning in Birmingham.

Israels 2010 Eurovision song was the ballad Milim sung by Harel Skaat. On the night Israel did poorly and came in 14th after all the votes were counted.

In 2011 Israel have again chosen Dana International looking to repeat the 1998 win. The song is Ding Dong
