Eurovision Semi Finals

The method of selecting the semi-final qualifiers is as follows in  2011.

Based on the amount of votes by phone and SMS, televoters in each country then give 12 points to the most popular entry,  10 points to the second most popular, then 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points.

Then juries in all countries vote, each jury in each country then gives 12 points to the most popular entry, 10 points to the second most popular, then 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points.

The televoting results and the jury results are then merged per country.  Each result counts for 50%

The complete results of the telephone voting of the Semi Final will not be announced until after the final so as to keep the Eurovision final as exciting as possible.

Eurovision Seeded Countries

Five countries the UK, France, Italy, Spain and hosts Germany automatically qualify for the final and are joined by the 20 Qualifiers from the Semi Finals.

By not releasing the full results of the Semi Finals the organisers are wary of spoiling the excitement of the live Eurovision final. However we can get a betting indication of public support.

There will be 25 countries competing in the live final.
